Kovai Sarala, supporter of AIADMK
The elections are bringing about sudden twists and turns in the film industry. Many cine stars are found shaking hands with various parties. There is yet another new addition in the list. Famous actress and comedienne of the Tamil film world, Kovai Sarala, along with her family, met Chief Minister Selvi J.Jayalalithaa in Tanjore yesterday. She joined hands with AIADMK in the CM’s presence. Dance master Raghuram was also present along with them. ....
"Legal action if my name is used during elections": Ilayathalapathi Vijay
"If my name is used in the elections, I will take legal action," says Vijay. "I was shocked to read a news item that said that the Vijay fans' club is standing against CM Jayalithaa in Andipatti. The whole news was a fake one with totally misleading and wrong information. If my name is used in the forthcoming elections by any participating members, I will surely take legal action against them," said Vijay. "My son Vijay is a supporter of every party. He loves everyone and is not partial to anyone. All religions are one for him. On the whole, he is a child of all the mothers in Tamil Nadu. I don’t want anyone to spoil his name by linking to a particular political party," said Vijay's father S.A. Chandrasekar when he spoke about the issue. ....
Aravindsamy divorce case: No compromise
Aravindsamy's wife Gayathri had filed a case for divorce in the Family Welfare Court. The chances of bringing about a smooth reconciliation between the two are very remote. Aravindsamy has acted in many films like Thalapathi, Roja, Puthayal, and Bombay. He got married to Gayathri in 1994 and they have two daughters. The pair started off with a smooth relationship but had a lot of friction for the past two years. They have been living separately for the past two years. Gayathri has filed a case seeking divorce, which came up for hearing yesterday. Both Aravindsamy and his wife came to the Court. Ramesh slaps Namitha in Nee Venumda Chellam
On a busy road buzzing with traffic, Anjali was sitting in a car. As she peeped out of the car, she saw her hero standing on a bike on the road. Not even bothered about the traffic, she got down and walked up to him, and started declaring her undying and eternal lover for him, unmindful of the surroundings. The hero gave her a slap, unmindful of the onlookers on the main road or the traffic. Such a scene was shot for Nee Venumda Chellam. This shooting took place on Tharamani Velachery road, Chennai for two days. JIthan Ramesh is the hero with Namitha as Anjali. In a fight scene for this film, Ramesh has jumped from a four-storey building without using the services of a duplicate artist. The small boy Arunkumar, who acted in Kaadhal, has also got a special role in Nee Venumda Chellam.

Nila, determined to marry her lover?
Nila came into the Tamil film world through S.J. Suryah's Ah-Aah. She was fondly called "Little Simran" too. She is currently working in Jambhavan with Prasanth. Sources say that Ah-Aah Nila is pretty determined to marry her lover. "I have many boyfriends. It is not a mistake to move with men in a friendly manner. I will marry after three years. I will surely not marry a person from the cine field," says Nila. When asked if she would hold hands with her Delhi boyfriend, Nila maintains a silent smile. Is this silence a positive signal? ....
"A good role at last!": Namitha
Namitha the glam queen of Kollywood is all excited about her new film Pachakuthirai scheduled for Tamil New Year Day release. In this chat she speaks about her career moves and debut into Kannada films. Excerpts
Your career seems to be on a high these days? I'm a student and I want to do better. I want directors who can find the actress in me. With each film, I?m getting more and more involved and (smiles) I am getting good offers.
How has this year been for you so far? My first release Kovai Brothers was a hit. I?m waiting for the release of Pachakuthirai next week. Then there is Nee Venumda Chellam. My roles in both these films were challenging.
Tell us about Pachakuthirai? Finally I got to perform in a film! My character- Poovu is a poor slum girl who gets married to a rowdy played by Parthipan sir. How we change each others life forms the crux of the story. I am the pivot round which the story moves.
How was the experience? Initially when I heard the script I wasn?t to sure if I could do justice to the role. Parthipan sir took a lot of effort to helped me get a new look and I should say that he was very helpful and patient with me. His obsessive love for work and his punctuality is some thing to be admired. Sabesh Murali?s songs are great and the camera by Selvam is awesome.
You look very different in the stills?. You think so? I?m so happy about it. Pachakuthirai is perhaps the only film in which I?ve acted so far. I was desperately looking for a change in the usual manner in which I was presented in my earlier films. I guess, it could be because this time I?ve not used any artificial paints, no false eyelashes, lipstick and I always wear sari with a big bindi on my forehead throughout, except for songs. In fact, the way the character talks, her body language and the way she communicates with her husband is all different.
Have you become selective? (Smiles) sort of? I want to do good roles. I have signed a Kannada film with Ravichandran and I am listening to a few good scripts in Tamil. Something interesting is going to happen to my career and I will be holding a press conference to announce it soon.
What about marriage? I just hope when it happens, it doesn?t hamper my work. Right now I?m too much into my working space. I get so passionate about anything I do; I don?t know how I can balance a personal with a professional life. I?m a very happy person.. thanks to God.

Malavika mania!
Malavika has become the hottest item girl in Kollywood today after the Vala Meenukkum? song from Chithirem Pesuthadi became a chartbuster. Remember that she was in the news after a soft-porn Hindi film C U at 9 had a dream run for almost 150 days in Chennai!
Now Chithirem Pesuthadi, one of the hits of 2006 is running on the strength of Vala Meenukkum? song picturised on Gana Ulaganathan and Malavika. She is now busy with another item number in Pandiaraj?s Kai Vantha Kalai at Mohan Studio.
Malavika was the heroine in films Like Vettri Kodi Kattu, Lovely, Seenu and Unnai Thedi and had also done significant roles in Peralagan,Chandramukhi and Pasakilikal.
Says the actress: ?I am happy that the song in Chithirem Pesuthadi is a huge hit. But I do not want to continue doing item numbers in films. I don't mind playing glamour roles unless it has some scope for performance.

Testing time for Ajit
Tirupati is now ready for release on April 14. It is Ajit’s most crucial film and it has to be a hit for his viability as a superstar.
The market rumours is that AVM has sold Tirupati for Rs 10.60 Crore, including all rights. They were able to sell it at high rates thanks to their next film, Rajnikanth’s Shankar directed Sivaji!
A lot of distributors who purchased Tirupati like Madurai Anbu are hoping to get a preference when Sivaji is marketed. Producer P.L.Thenappan has brought Ajit’s next film from its producer and director Bala for Rs 13 Crore on first copy basis!
The moot question here is that if Tirupati a mass masala could fetch only Rs 10.6 Crore with AVM’s backing, can Thenappan sell his Bala film for more? Tirupati has to be a super hit for Ajit’s Godfather also to see the light. So a lot rides on Ajit and his Tirupati. ....
Vijay cautions fan clubs on election
Vijay is a very cautious person and his answers are always measured. If controversy was taking a walk on the street, Vijay would take a plane and fly away. What would he do if his name is being used in the elections?
Madhavan is contesting from Andipatti against Jayalalithaa. As soon as he filed his nomination, he gave an interview stating that he was the leader of the Theni District Vijay Fan Club and that really upset Vijay. He urgently consulted his father and made a statement.
"One Madhavan is contesting the election using my fan club's name. His claim that he is the leader of the Theni district fan club is a lie. In fact the Madurai district leader Thanga Pandian is looking after the affairs of the Theni district fan club. Moreover, Madhavan does not have the right or eligibility to use the name of my fan clubs. If anyone violates, legal action will be taken against them."
Vijay has stood away like a slippery fish from the election business, as he believes that may be detrimental to his growth.
Asked by his fans what is expected of them S A Chandrasekar has answered thus, "Vijay is an artiste who loves all parties. He is a man who respects all religions. Indeed Vijay is the favourite son of Tamilnadu. So, don't paint him with any colour and confine him into a small circle. As the Revolutionary Leader M.G.R. commanded, do good work and it will come to your help." (Incidentally, S A C was a D M K sympathizer).
What does he mean by good work will come to help at the right time? Does it mean the right time is when Vijay starts a political party? ....
Sridevi Vijayakumar shifts to Kannada
Sridevi Vijayakumar, the daughter of the famous couple Vijayakumar and Manjula, has acted in many Tamil films. But she failed to create a niche for herself in the industry. Though much was expected from her, she apparently failed to satisfy the expectations of the unpredictable publlic. She has hence decided to shift to Kannada industry. She is to take the lead role in the Kannada remake of Kaathalukku Mariyaadhai. All the other stars are debutants. It is already pretty well known that famous stars like Meera Jasmine, Navya and Uma are also busy in the Kannada film world.

Renuka Menon wept after kissing!
Renuka Menon is one of the new breed of Malayali actresses who have no second thoughts about doing glamorous roles in Tamil. but things were very different on the sets of her first film.
Couple of years ago, she made her debut in Malayalam. 'Maya Mohita Chandran' was supposed to be her first film. 'Kunhako Boban was the hero of the film. It was going to be a youthful love story. The director didn't want to scare Renuka on her very first day of shooting. So, they decided to shoot some non-touching scenes with her and Kunhako Boban. Renuka was very happy and started to lose her nervousness.
But a rude shock awaited her the next day when she turned up on the sets. The assistant director told her that they were going to film a kissing scene that day. When he started explaining the scene, Renuka began to cry. She just wouldn't kiss Kunhako Boban!
She tried to take the issue up with the producer and the director but they wouldn't relent. Finally, Renuka had to bow to the pressure. She prayed all the Gods and acted in the scene. The moment the director said "Cut!", she broke down and wept.
Well, when we saw the film 'Kalaaba Kadhalan' in Tamil, we couldn't believe our eyes. Was it the same Renuka??? ....
`Pattiyal`- Super hit in Kerala!
Vishnuvardhan’s Pattiyal is a super hit in Kerala. At Ernakulam Padma, the film has done Rs 4.04 Lakh net in the first two weeks which is fantastic. Remember that in Kerala only superstar Tamil films do well and off beat Tamil hits like Kathal and Thavamai Thavamirundhai were flops!
What seems to have worked for Pattiyal which was sold at throw away price in Kerala is its taut presentation, performance of lead actors and peppy music of Yuvan. The film is a huge hit in cities like Ernakulam, Trivandrum, Trichur and is likely to do business worth Rs 40 to 50 Lakhs from Kerala.
Meanwhile in Tamilnadu since there is no opposition, Pattiyal is making merry in B and C stations. At Coimbatore Archana it has taken a distributors share of Rs 11.5 Lakhs in two weeks, which is very good. Even in Dindigul a mere C station, the share is around Rs 4 Lakhs!
The way Pattiyal is making deep inroads in traditional mass movie superstar market has made the trade sit up and say-“Good films irrespective of star cast will make money”. ....
Bhagyaraj joins DMK!
Noted actor and film director K Bhagyaraj, whom the late MGR had once proclaimed to be his heir in the world of arts, on Wednesday joined the Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK), claiming that he was doing so to save the name and fame of MGR. Meeting DMK president M Karunanidhi at the party headquarters here, Bhagyaraj pledged support to the DMK, that has been fishing for star campaigners in the run up to the May 8 Assembly elections. Comparing Jayalalithaa and Karunanidhi, he said Jayalalithaa, an actress, had a glamorous appeal among the masses when she entered politics.?Kalaignar is full of knowledge and experience and his schemes reflect it,? he said. ?People were critical when the noon meal scheme was introduced, but it was a success. Similarly, rice for Rs 2 is also possible,? he said in reply to a question.Earlier, explaining the reasons behind joining the DMK all of a sudden, he said it was natural to raise the question why he, the film heir of MGR, had accepted Karunanidhi?s leadership. He said it was by accident that he initially came to politics. Attracted by MGR, he had wanted to enter films. Later, he realised that directors and writers, the backbone of the film industry, were subsequently attracted to Karunanidhi. ?Due to circumstances, the two leaders I admired most were in opposite camps when I entered films,? he said. ?In a sudden turn of events, MGR accepted me as his film heir,? Bhagyaraj said, explaining the reason behind entering politics and campaigning against Karunanidhi. (He had earlier, floated his own party MGR Makkal Munnetra Kazhagam, which he had to wind up within months).Admitting that his decision to campaign for Karunanidhi now would come as a surprise to many, he said it was MGR who showed him the way to accept Karunanidhi?s leadership. He pointed out that when in 1969, the DMK was faced with selecting between Karunanidhi and the late Nedunchezhian after Anna?s death, MGR was also instrumental in making Karunanidhi the Chief Minister. As Karunanidhi was ?breathing? the welfare of Tamils even in his old age, Bhagyaraj said he had taken the right decision to work under his leadership. Among other reasons, he cited the sidelining of MGR loyalists like R M Veerappan, Thirunavukkarasar, KKSSR Ramachandran, Dr H V Hande, and K A Krishnaswamy, in the AIADMK led by Jayalalithaa over the years. On the contrary, Karunanidhi had offered posts to MGR loyalists in the party as well as in the cabinet, he said.Even in the present candidates list of the AIADMK, names like S Semmalai, Erode Muthusamy and Saidai S Duraisamy were missing, he said. Moreover, the way the AIADMK treated the late R Thamaraikani and its dismissal of 10,000 road gang mazdoors of whom more than 60 died, had hurt him deeply, he said.Asked if his fans would accept him, he said his fans would accept his argument when he started the campaign. ?I am not forcing anyone. Understand the reality,? he said. ....
Aishwarya's love life causing problems for Mani!
Normally, Indian film stars would gladly do anything to get a chance to act in Manirathnam's films. But the ace director is now having problems finding actors to work in his new film 'Guru'.
Here's why.
Manirathnam had signed Aishwarya Rai, Abhishek Bachchan and Vivek Oberoi to play the lead roles in the film. When he signed them up, the much-publicized 'romance' between Vivek Oberoi and Aishwarya Rai had come to an abrupt end. But, before Mani started shooting the film, rumors began that Aishwarya Rai was getting romantically involved with Abhishek Bachchan.
This had irritated Vivek so much that he decided to walk out of the film. He spoke to the director and explained his predicament. The director understood. Vivek walked out. The director then began searching for someone to play the second hero. he approached John Abraham, who wasn't interested in playing second hero to Abhishek Bachchan.
Mani then spoke to Saif Ali Khan, who wasn't interested either.
Search is still on for a second hero. ....
Trisha gambles with 'Pournami'
The first release of the season, 'Shri Ramadasu' has become a hit at the box office. Now, many are wondering if the next big release, the much-awaited 'Pournami' will be able to repeat or surpass this success.
Trisha's career in Kollywood seems to be in trouble. As of now she only has two films- 'Bheema' with Vikram and 'Something, Something Unakkum Yenakkum' with 'Jayam' Ravi. Of these films, there is no confirmed word yet about her role in 'Bheema'. In Telugu, she has only one film, 'Stalin' with Chiranjeevi.
'Pournami's performance at the box office is going to be very crucial for its director Prabhudeva too. This is his second film as a director. If the film sinks, he'd end up with the label of a "one-hit-wonder". That, however seems highly unlikely because the film's music has already become a hit and everybody has faith in MS Raju as a producer who has the talent to spot a winning horse.
The film is likely to be released in the third week of April. ....

Bhavana replaces Meera Jasmine in Tamil film
Meera Jasmine's career is having mixed results in Tamil. Her new films, 'Sandai Kozhi' and 'Mercury Pookal' are doing very well in Kollywood. But, she was yet again removed from a film.
Director Bala, of 'Sethu', 'Nanda' and 'Pitamagan' fame, is going to direct Ajith in the new film 'Naan Kadavul'. He initially was planning to cast Meera Jasmine in the role. But, he changed his mind when he saw the film 'Chittiram Pesudadi' with Bhavana and Sunil in the lead.

Stars shine less!
Is our Ilayathalapathy Vijay going through Sanidasa? It seems that his astrologers have said that it is bad times! The actor has not faced the camera for a new film for the past 105 days and it is a new record for him of not having taken part in a shoot for so many days in his 11-year-old career.
More trouble has come from unexpected quarters for Vijay in the form of Sarathkumar fans claiming that the DMK leadership especially Dayanidhi Maran was trying to promote him at the expense of their Annan! Vijay is totally apolitical and has absolutely no interest in entering politics and is unnecessarily being dragged into an unsavory situation by Sarath fans.
Meanwhile the grapevine is abuzz with rumours that a leading astrologer has asked Vijay not to face the camera for five months! Last week his father S.A.Chandrasekhara went on a pilgrimage to all temples in southern Tamilnadu to ward off evils of Sani. Chandrasekhar himself is in a fix as he is facing strong opposition in the forthcoming election to his being the Tamil film director’s Association president.
Let us hope that Vijay, the soft-spoken, well-mannered superstar gets his act together and resumes shoot at the earliest and come out with a mass masala entertainer for thousands of his fans. ....
Desperate Simran
Simran the ex-glamour queen and ‘numero uno’ actress of Kollywood is in Chennai for the last one month with her husband Deepak Bagga and son. She has been making the rounds meeting producers and directors as she is desperate to make a comeback to the Tamil screen.
But the fact is that no one is interested to cast her! The actress fails to realize that as far as Tamil heroines are concerned they are dead ducks once you are married and this holds good for Simran too. The main reason why all big stars and directors are avoiding Simran is that she had ignored everyone during her wedding and did not even bother to hold any reception in Chennai after her marriage.
And now after having a baby she has resurfaced in Chennai and not only want to be paired with top actors but wants her husband Deepak to do an important role in the film! As a leading director remarked: “She has put on weight. Now she has to forget her dreams of being paired with superstars and do roles that will suit her maturity”.
The latest we hear is that she was recently approached by a lady director to do “an author backed role” and Simran jumped at it, but when it was made clear that she had to produce it, the actress silently made a retreat!
And last week Simran met Chief Minister J. Jayalalithaa and decided to campaign for AIADMK. She is now planning to go on a 20-day whirlwind campaign for the party in rural Tamilnadu though she does not figure in the voters list! The actress hopes that all this will get her a role in films! ....
Ban on film starring Sushmita Sen as sex-worker? Court's decision
Have you heard of Sankalp Bharathi Seva Sansthan? If you have not, this is one of the hundreds of culture vultures of India.
In 'Singari,' the historic Draupadi (Panchali) has been portrayed as a prostitute and the head of religion as heading a group of criminals and law breakers involved in murder, rape, theft and acts of terrorism. Vandalism is rampant in the film. India's culture is being shredded to pieces. Dialogues that offend Hindu sentiments are heard in the film. The organization in question has leveled all these accusations and filed a case in the Supreme Court to ban the film for welfare of the people and country's culture.
The court is all the time tackling cases of murder and rape by the 'holy men' and now they are being asked to support these very men! Having examined the case, the judges could not find anything wrong with 'Singari' and discounted the hearing. They also did not levy a fine on the organization for filing the case!
The organization at least escaped without the fine! ....
Propaganda for ADMK - Simran's sudden decision
What on earth is happening in Tamilnadu? Even north Indian actresses want to support ADMK! Radharavi, S S Chandran, Gundu Kalyanam, Pandian, C R Saraswati, Senthil, Vijay Kumar, Murali, Manobala, Anandraj, S V Sekhar, Radha, Ambika... half of Kodambakkam will be found in this endless list!
Simran has also joined this long list of star supporters. After she became a mother, Simran seems to have found an affinity towards 'Amma.' She chased to reach Jayalalitha who was campaigning in Vizhupuram and expressed her support for ADMK.
With husband Deepak Bhaga by her side and her child perched on her hips, Simran is into campaigning with her family! She wants to do a campaign tour of Tamilnadu in support of ADMK candidates. Is that possible with such a small child? It's not. So, Sims will give voice for ADMK only in major towns.
Following Simran, action girl Vindhya has also joined ADMK. Vindhya also has an idea of exhibiting her martial art skills on stage as part of her election campaign.
Dance master Raghuram and his wife have also joined ADMK. Looking at the number of stars jostling to join ADMK, a media colleague commented, "Only the deceased Silk is to join!" ....
Sarathkumar to quit DMK?
Is Sarathkumar preparing to quit the DMK and launch his own party? His relationship with Karunanidhi turned cold after Dayanidhi Maran was made the Union Minister for communication.
The only thing stopping Sarath so far from not leaving DMK was that his wife Radhika and her Radaan TV is Sun TV?s biggest content provider. In fact Sun TV had always promoted Sarathkumar films and gave them top billing in countdown shows. Added to that, they purchased the satellite rights of all Sarath films at a higher rate than actual market rate.
But in politics, you have to get positions if you have to grow. Sarath realized that he will always have to play second fiddle to the Marans in DMK. Last month when his fans organized a meet in Tuticorin, they urged him to float a political party for the Nadars. Sarath tried to play it down but he was ignored within DMK when it came to selection of candidates in the Nadar majority districts of Tuticorin and Tirunelveli. Some of his fan members who were recommended by Sarath for party tickets were ignored by the party high command.
Now his fans feel that the actor has no future in DMK. They also cited the incident of superstar Vijay being called to New Delhi by Dayanidhi Maran for the release of postal stamp in the presence of Prime Minister Manmohan Singh as representative of Tamilnadu. Sarath was ignored and not even called for the function! On Sunday Sarathkumar fans association members met in Chennai and took a bold and daring decision not to campaign for DMK led front in the forthcoming assembly elections.
Says A.N.Sundaresan, president of All India Sarathkumar Fans Association and the hatchet man of the actor: ?We have appealed to him not to campaign for DMK and its allies. The party had used the fan body during elections but is not willing to give any position or post to its members?. Meanwhile Sarathkumar who mysteriously disappeared for a week while the fans were peeved with DMK said: ?I will announce my decision in a couple of days keeping in view my political affiliation and feeling of my fans who made me what I am today?.
What is also bugging Sarathkumar is also the growing popularity of Vijaykanth and his brave and daring decision to fight the elections alone. Even if ?Captain? gets one or two seats he will become a hero and probably a new power centre! ....
Tirupati` gets ready!
The last song of AVM?s Tirupathi an item number featuring Ajit and Laila singing a dappankoothu song number ?Keerai Vedhaippan?? was picturised at Pollachi. Now the first copy will be ready by April 6 and the film will go for censoring.
Tirupati will have over 200 prints in Tamilnadu alone as it gets ready for release on April 14. As far as Ajit is concerned this AVM film will be his biggest so far. The trade is sure that the film will take a bumper opening as there is no opposition in the same genre.
But what they are worried is that whether the film will sustain after taking an opening like all Ajit films. Added to that, will people come to watch films in the midst of election fever? ....
Charmi to descend on Chennai!
In glamour, Charmi is a one woman army! If you look at the pic next to you, you will know why the neighboring Naidu state is all gaga over her!
Charmi started her glamour career from 'Hanuman.' Her generosity has put even producers in a quandary sometimes.
How?
After 'Hanuman,' there was always a role set aside for Charmi in almost every Telugu film being made, like the friend of the heroine, second heroine, or to do an item number in the second half of the film.
Whatever be the role, the idea behind it is... it has to be sexy! Many films have braved the journey to the shore on Charmi's charms. The latest in the list are some big films like 'Style,' 'Lakshmi' and 'Sukkalo Chandrudu' to name a few. This female tornado is also starring in Prabhudeva's 'Pournami.'
Since there is hardly any challenge any more in Andhra, Charmi's attention has turned to Tamil films. And the lucky Tamil audience will soon get a darshan of her since discussions are already on.
Charmi is still busy creating her glamour waves, but we media men have a bad habit of asking the time worn question... when do you plan to tie the knot?
With a quelling look, we were told sternly, "No marriage in the near future."
Well... this is what we expected anyway! ....
Gopika changes her anti-Chennai' policy
Gopika is busy reviving her career in Malayalam but she hasn't exactly lost her desire to be a leading actress in Tamil too.
Unfortunately, there are two things that work against her when it comes to working in Kollywood- her refusal to do glamorous roles and the fact that she prefers to stay in Kerala. Once in a while Gopika makes an exception to the no-glamour rule. But her refusal to stay in Chennai is costing her lot of new film offers.
She used to insist that directors schedule her shootings only when she is in Chennai.
But now she has decided to relax those conditions. She is looking for a house to lease/buy in Chennai so she could concentrate in both Malayalam and Tamil. ....
Silent spectator
As elections draw near, one can see the various permutations and combinations and shifting of sides among political parties. While Vijaykanth and Karthik, both heading their respective political outifits, have declared their intention to fight the election without aligning with any political party, Rajnikanth this time is a silent spectator. No foot-in-the-mouth talk, no overt support for any party. The superstar has sent a message to his fans that they were free to vote for the party they wanted to. This has not gone down quite well with some of his fans, who want the superstar to take a clear stand on the issue. Office-bearers of some of his fans? associations, have met Chief Minister Jayalalitha and expressed their support for her party. Meanwhile, actor Vijaykumar, who recently joined the AIADMK, at a public meeting expressed his hope that Rajni would soon meet the CM and express his solidarity with her. One has to wait and watch what the superstar does. ....
Positive change
The Srikanth-Meera Jasmine starrer Mercury Pookkal may just be average at the box-office, but it has brought together an estranged couple. The couple had parted ways due to differences about a couple of years back. But after seeing the film where Jasmine and Srikanth, a married couple, get estranged but reconcile their differences and re-unite in the end, this real-life couple too had a change of heart and decided to get back again. The duo was felicitated at a function held in a theater where the film was being screened. Srikanth, who was present on the occasion, expressed his pleasure that cinema does bring in positive changes! ....
