Nayanthara - Prabhu Deva may Split!

Nayanthara and Prabhu Deva were in deep love. Nayanthara became very friendly with Prabhu Deva while she was shooting for Villu.

Villu which had Vijay and Nayanthara in the lead role was directed by Prabhu Deva. Prabhu Deva started visiting her at the shooting spots. In a similar way Nayanthara started visiting Prabhu Deva in his sets. Both used to stay in the same hotel and started developing their romance.

Both of them came to a stage of marrying. This has created a big problem in Prabhu Deva’s house. His wife Ramalath said,” Nayanthara should severe her relationship with my husband immediately. Otherwise I will go in search of her and beat her.” Ramalath’s threatening talk scared Nayanthara.

She started reducing her visits to Chennai. Now it seems that there is a rift in the relationship between Prabhu Deva and Nayanthara. The reason is because of Ayesha Takiya. Ayesha Takiya was the heroine of the Hindi film Wanted which was directed by Prabhu Deva.

It is learnt that Prabhu Deva has become close with Ayesha. Nayanthara who had come to know about this lost her temper and had a scuffle with Prabhu Deva. Now she has stopped talking with Prabhu Deva.

Kamal and Murugadoss to work together!

Kamal and Murugadoss to work together! This sounds like one combination that can’t fail. Arguably India’s finest actor is ready to join hands with the most promising of young directors, AR Murugadoss.

I’m a soft target: Nayantara

I’m a soft target: NayantaraHer last movie ‘Villu’ worked well among her fans and they were happy with her refreshing appearance. The ‘Loose Penne’ gal later created sensation when she was seen sporting a tattooed name on her arm, to reveal her love for choreographer-actor-director Prabhudeva.

Nayantara has not only bold been enough to shed off her village belle image but has been facing the rough waters of filmdom all alone till now. She is one of the few actresses in the industry who doesn’t turn up to the shooting spot along with a parent. She rebuked at the media remarks that it is untrue to say that she had been accompanied by her parents to her workplace. Initially, her dad used to accompany Nayantara to the shooting locations, later on she realised that it was not good to trouble him and managed alone thereafter. During the course of her career, she even braved all the controversies herself without allowing any helping hand from her family.

“There has been lot of rough reporting when it comes to me, as I’m a soft target. I really don’t bother too much about it, but when my family is unnecessarily dragged into such reports, it upsets me,” complains the annoyed actress.

Well Nayantara, they say - The fame you earn has a different taste from the fame that is forced upon you. ....

Unnaipol Oruvan to mark Haasan's 50 years in cinema

Unnaipol Oruvan to mark Haasan's 50 years in cinemaUnnaipol Oruvan is sure to be special to film fans both in Tamil and Malayalam. If the movie is bringing together two of the best known legends of film frat, it is also being timed for release in a way that it is special to the audiences. The film, which will be completed including post production in a month from now, is being planned as an August release for two reasons. August 12, a good fifty years ago, was when Kamal’s first film, Kalathur Kannamma was released. Plans are on to release this film on the same date.

This also works well for the Malayalam star Mohanlal, who acts with Kamal Haasan for the first time in the film. Trisha’s the most wanted!

Trisha’s the most wantedWhat if her last three releases, Kuruvi, Abhiyum Naanum and Sarvvam haven’t been biggest hits to boast about? Trisha, the lissome lass, has the whole of this year tied up with interesting projects and is not ready to take up newer roles.

The actress, who made a splash for her good looks and charming demeanour in Sarvvam is currently pairing with Dhanush for Aadukalam, apart from playing Simbhu’s love in Gautham Menon’s Vinnaithaandi Varuvaya. Apart from these, the actress is keeping herself equally busy in Tollywood, with a film each with Venkatesh and Gopichand. Due to these reasons, Trisha has not been taking up any of the offers coming up her way.

Despite the entry of many newer heroines, like Tamannaah, Trisha, who first acted as heroine in 2002, has been able to survive steadily. One of the biggest reasons that sources in the industry cite for it is the actress’ attitude towards the roles she does and the remuneration she seeks. Realising that the One Crore demand can mark a career, the actress has been cautious in the money she asks for. Also, the actress has stuck purely with mainstream cinema, thus keeping her market value intact. ....

Rahman’s gift to Border Security Force

Unaffected by times, it’s been a heavy downpour of appraisals for AR Rahman. Certainly, his name and fame reached far-famed corners of the globe much before fetching Academy Awards. Perhaps now, he’s gone over exceeding his own expectations. More than all, Rahman has come forward postulating to benevolent acts. It goes more illustrious with his charity show for AIDS affected children in Kerala and extending free music classes for underprivileged students.

And now, Madras Mozart has extended his token of gratitude for Border Security Force by tuning a theme song for them. Now in the ages to come, the Jawans will march for his musical score of ‘Hum Sena Suraksha Baal Veeron Ka Hai’ (We are the Border Security Force of the Brave). AR Rahman has dedicated this 5mins song as gratitude of expressing laudability for the valor and strength of BSF safeguarding Borders of Indo-Pakistan and Indo-Bangladesh.

BSF Chief ML Kunawat has stated that Rahman has composed the song sans any remuneration as he wanted them to receive it as his gift. Visuals for this film under the title of ‘Border Man’ are being shot and would be released throughout all visual channels shortly. ....

Mamta - Ajit in ‘Asal’?

Though her recent film ‘Guru En Aalu’ did not make an impact in Kollywood, heroine Mamta Mohandas seems to have hit the jackpot in Kollywood this time. If the buzz going around the Tamil film circles is true then we shall soon see Mamta pairing up with Ajith in Saran’s direction.

Mamta is not only good at acting but has been gifted with a good voice. Her ‘Daddy Mummy...’ song in ‘Villu’ has become a mass favorite. Reports indicate that the girl is receiving more offers for singing that acting.

Only quite a few are as lucky as you are Mamta!

The heroine who is having a steady call sheet from the Malayalam film industry is reported to have revealed that she is doing films in Mollywood because she is not quite happy with the kind of offers that she has been receiving from the Tamil film industry.

But with this film in her kitty, we guess Mamta might want to come back here.

Amidst all this is the news that Mamta is in talks with director Saran, the maker of ‘Asal’, as the second heroine. We know that Ajith and Sameera Reddy have been signed as the lead pair for ‘Asal’. With the entry of Mamta let’s assume that she has been roped in as the second heroine.

We will be back with more interesting stories from the Tamil film industry as they happen! ....

Fans disappointed by Thoranai trailer

Oops! It’s really disgusting to find that audiences’ tastes are vividly changing within fraction of moments. A Filmmaker may go for a stylish foreign cinema sort or a Pakka commercial film, but then audiences are so intellectual in expressing their verdict just with a glimpse trailers... During the first weekend of Sarvam’s show, trailers for ‘Thoranai’ were screened. Know what an audience in the front row said, “Please Vishal! Stop making silly commercial movies and you’re comedy sense is awkward...” This is clearly because of his non-comical sense in Malaikottai that seemed to be quite odd...

We aren’t able to figure out why Vishal is constantly glued to commercial cinemas. He can better quit acting and go for making films as he has good experiences working as assistant director.

Precisely, expectations are so low for the film ‘Thoranai’ and to promote the film much, the producers have taken IPL finales into consideration and postponed release to end of this month... ....

No intimate Scenes for Pasupathy

PasupathyUnnaturally different, isn’t? Have you noticed any actor in the past who had come up with such a strict condition. But, here’s Actor Pasupathy uttering the condition to all his filmmakers. With his Vedigundu Murugesan hitting screens shortly, Pasupathy has said, “I have never termed myself as an actor, but I am a pure performer eager to take on interestingly different characterization with powerful description. My greatest dream role is about enacting the role of Va. Ve. Su. Iyer.

On the pars, I strictly don’t like to go for intimate sequences with actresses although the scene demands for it. As Director of Vedigundu Murugesan urged me with kindly repeatedly, I had to for it. But I will surely avoid such things in the future...”

If so, Pasupathy what did you actually do with Priyanka in ‘Veyil’? ....

Santosh Sivan joins team ‘Raavan’

SantoshThe ‘Raavan’ team has been into a lot lately. First it was the director Mani Ratnam becoming ill to the point of getting hospitalized. Now it is his camera man for the film Manikandan walking out on him.

The reason for Manikandan quitting is because he seems to committed himself to a Farah Khan project that is about to begin in June. With Mani getting ill and the project stalling a getting delayed Manikandan seems to have not fulfilled his commitment to Mani Ratnam.

So what happens now? Mani Ratnam has called his old friend and ace cinematographer Santosh Sivan to complete his project ‘Raavan’ successfully. With more than 60 percent of the film complete and his cinematographer walking out on him Mani Ratnam is confident that Santosh will do justice to the film.

A friend in need is a friend indeed!

Aishwarya Rai As we all know Aish is shooting for two Tamil films back to back. One is the Shankar directed magnum opus ‘Endhiran’ that has Superstar Rajinikanth and Aishwarya Rai pairing up for the first time. This project has been in the news for the heroine bagging a whooping six crore rupees for signing up the project.

The other film is by ace director Mani Ratnam. This film is a multi lingual project and is being simultaneously shot in Hindi with Ash and hubby doing the lead roles. The Tamil remake of the film sees Chiyan Vikram and Ash in the lead roles. This flick’s title seems to have been inspired from the epic Ramayana and has hence been titled ‘Raavan’.

The story deals with the hero kidnapping another man’s wife and the fate that befalls.

The music for both the films will be by the twin Oscar award winner A.R. Rahman. Another interesting factor is that Rajinikanth’s daughter Aishwarya Rajinikanth will be lending her voice for Ash’s character in Shankar’s ‘Endhiran’ as well as Mani Rathnam’s ‘Raavan’. Sultan Rajini is in trouble!

RajnikanthWe managed to get Soundarya Rajnikant, daughter of the Tamil supremo Rajnikant (and India’s highest paid actor with the largest fan base) to part with images of her first animated feature Sultan that is slated for a 2009 release. Incidentally this movie will release before the Rajni-Aishwarya Rai Bachchan flick The Robot.

Rumours down South have it that Soundarya’s production house and the Hollywood giant who were to co-produce Sultan have parted ways. But it actually turned out that Sultan is being made in partnership with a film corporation.

In a statement to BT, Richard Fox, Executive Vice-President International of the foreign studio, said, “We have been and will continue to work with Soundarya Rajnikant. Together, our companies have a number of southern Indian language projects in various stages, from early negotiations to active development. We will announce these projects at the appropriate time. But, any rumour that suggests otherwise is simply not true.”

When contacted, Soundarya said, “Our multi-picture deal contract with the foreign studio is positively intact as plans are on to jointly produce films in all four South Indian Languages, contrary to the untoward rumours doing the rounds in the Industry.”

Soundarya is exalted because her ‘appa’ (father) was very excited during the shoot and was surprised when he saw the first look of the film that this paper is currently being unveiled by this newspaper. Oscar winner A R Rahman has recorded four songs and two are yet to be done, says the star-daughter; and of course, “Daddy is yet to dub for his movie. Shriya ups her oomph factor

ShriyaThere’s nowhere that beauty alone can take a person, even in the field mockingly called showbiz. If beauty makes take a look at a person, it’s the person’s attitude that commands the second look in its direction.

And actress Shriya seems to have realized just that. The actress, who certainly revolutionized the way both glamour and dressing was perceived in the South Indian industry, is now set to show some attitude. And this dose of the bold and beautiful of Shriya will be for a Television commercial that has the damsel playing a bold, bright girl. This is for a commercial that will soon grace the screens and is to promote a mobile phone.

This will be more of a sequel to the bold acts that Asin and Genelia have done, playing bold girls in their Miranda and Fanta ads, respectively. And here’s hoping Shriya finds in her the attitude to carry off such a look. The actress is currently awaiting the release of two of her films this summer: Thoranai and Kanthaswamy. ....

The actress has an interesting line up of films next, with Lingusamy’s ‘Paiya’ and Kannan’s ‘Kanden Kadhalai’. And now for the bonanza offer, to pair with the Ilaya Thalapathy.

If sources are to be believed, the actress has been approached for this role for film which will be produced by Sangili Murugan. Interestingly, it is said that the director for the film has not been disclosed, and the film is said to begin later this year after Vijay completes his ‘Vettaikkaran’.

It may be recalled that Sangili Murugan and Vijay earlier teamed up for the blockbuster ‘Kadhalukku Mariyadhai’. Here’s hoping this project too matches with that success. ....

The Superstar, however, would not have sweated it out to develop his body. This will only be for his animated version for the film, ‘Sultan The Warrior’. The film is directed by daughter Soundarya Rajinikanth, apart from being produced by her.

The Superstar is said to be playing a warrior in the film, which is an action adventure. Despite being an animation film, the Superstar has himself enacted his part, which has been captured by a motion capture camera. Calling him a director’s delight, Soundarya Rajinikanth says the film will be over by end of this year.

The film has brought together the world’s best known technicians. The facial animation has been done by Image Matrix, which worked on Brad Pitt in his Academy Award-winning 'The Curious Case of Benjamin Button'. The film’s budget is said to be a whopping $ 5 million. Calling it a typical punch film, Soundarya reels out one of her dialogues about dad in the film: “Adikkara Kaathula Parakkura Ilai Illa Da Sultan, Malai. Asaikka Mudiyaadhu.’

The film, which is said to be set in the Chola period, is 70 percent complete. ....

I’m an entertainer, not a hero: Vishal

Actor Vishal, whose ‘Thoranai’ will hit screens next Friday, says he has tired playing not a hero, but an entertainer in his forthcoming flick. Directed by Saba Ayyappan, the film is a bilingual, called ‘Pista’ in Telugu.

“While I’ve constantly been working in films as an action hero, this is the first time that I think I have been given my due as an actor who can do comedy. As the film was slated to release for summer, we wanted to do a film that will be enjoyable to all. And sans unbelievable heroism, I have opted for some good entertaining fare in the film,” says the actor, who says he thinks action comes good to him. “I don’t know how good I am in dance or in romance, but I think I am good when it comes to action,” he said.

Agreeing to reports that suggested that his face was losing its sheen owing to excessive exercises, the actor said he took the comments in his stride and will work about it. “My mother has also pointed out that the glow in my face has dwindled. I sometimes think of the producer who saw me and said “someone like you can never be a hero’. Everytime I see the mirror I think of him. I’m glad I am in a better state today, because the very same producer came to me looking for dates for a film. I couldn’t accommodate him, however,” says the actor.

'Thoranai' has Vishal paired with Shriya and the duo will team up once again for his 'Theeradha Vilayaatu Pillai'. ....

New twist in actress Shruthi's divorce saga

South Indian film actress and politician Shruthi Friday said she will be marrying journalist turned film director Chandrachud alias Chakri after the court accepts her plea for divorce from director S. Mahendar whom she married early 1998.

Talking to IANS from the temple town of Tirupati, Shruthi said she had decided to marry Chandrachud only Thursday after seeking the blessings of Lord Venkateshwara in Tirumala. She had filed the papers for divorce from Mahendar in the family court four days ago

"I cannot act against my conscience. Since a few days, I have been closer to Chandrachud and both of us decided to marry. I know Chandrachud is already married, but he is also facing some marital discontent in his household. We would be marrying each other only after our plea for divorce is accepted," Shruthi said.

Chandrachud, who is presently directing a Kannada film "Janma", also told IANS that he is marrying the actress after she gets her divorce. He said that since the decision to marry was mutual, it should not warrant any criticism from any end.

"There is no point in continuing a relationship which has been continuously strained. I tried to save my marriage many times and resurrect the strained relationship. But unfortunately it did not work. I now think I prolonged a relationship which could not be sustained. I am happy to come out of the relationship with Mahendar and enter into a new relationship with Chandrachud," said Shruthi, who also has a child with Mahendar.

Shruthi's decision has not been taken kindly by some of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leaders who have been privately criticising her. She is now the chairperson of the Karnataka Women and Child welfare Board and had campaigned extensively for the party in Dakshina Kannada, Udupi and Mysore Lok Sabha constituencies in the recently-held parliamentary elections.

However, some BJP leaders say she has saved the party from a big embarrassment as she had announced her decision to divorce her husband Mahendar and marry Chandrachud four days after the conclusion of the two-phase polling in Karnataka.

Since the issue surfaced, Mahendar has remained elusive and his whereabouts are not known. Even his close confidants in the film industry and many friends in his native town of Kollegal say that the director has become inaccessible. He has also switched off his mobile phone. ....

“Kamal Haasan is the only glamorous hero” says Trisha
On her birthday Trisha while speaking to the media said,” I can never forget the experience while working in Sarvam. Arrangements are being made to release this film on 15th of this month. The film was shot in beautiful locales. There are rumors that I am donning bikini dresses and have acted in kissing scenes. I don’t know who is spreading these rumors. You will know the truth if you see the film. There were also rumors that I have danced with Arya in semi clad dress in Goa beach for this film. I feel like laughing when I hear such kind of rumors. I don’t like partying. If you ask me if who is the attractive hero I would say Kamal Haasan is the most glamorous actor.

The other one is Hollywood hero George Clooney. I am fond of animals. I get wild if anyone tries to be cruel with animals. I had been to Australia for my last vacation. Sky Diving was a thrilling experience for me there. Even now I am proud of this. My family is important for me. In the same way my friends are also equally important for me. I am scared of cockroaches. I like eating lot of tasty foods. My greatest asset are my friends.” ....
