Kanthaswamy: The next big hit?

Kanthaswamy: The next big hitKanthaswamy seems to have packaged the highest in everything. Mention glamour, and there’s a wholesome double dose of it, with Mumaith Khan and Shriya lending their bits.

Think of heroism, and the movie’s superhero storyline, with Vikram effortlessly flying over skyscrapers flashes into memory. There’s action, there’s romance, there’s nail biting thrill and stunts that will take your breath away.

The film, directed by Susi Ganesan, is being produced by Dhanu’s V Creations. ....

Kandasamy is not Krissh: Vikram

Kandasamy is not KrisshActor Vikram has pinned to rock higher with successful colors on his forthcoming couple of projects. With Mani Rathnam’s ‘Raavan’ getting him on the last legs of schedule, his protégé Susi Ganesh has got ‘Kandasamy’ completed. As everyone in the film’s crew revealed Kandasamy is a superhero film, Vikram was questioned whether it would be equally enhancing as Hrithik Roshan’s ‘Krish’.

Immediately, the actor came up with a statement, ‘Krish is nowhere near Kandasamy. It was a ridiculous film made with merely top-notching technical aspects. But here, we have focused on both narrative as well technical vistas. They’re sure about mind-boggling the audiences...” ....

Fans disappointed by Thoranai trailer

Oops! It’s really disgusting to find that audiences’ tastes are vividly changing within fraction of moments. A Filmmaker may go for a stylish foreign cinema sort or a Pakka commercial film, but then audiences are so intellectual in expressing their verdict just with a glimpse trailers... During the first weekend of Sarvam’s show, trailers for ‘Thoranai’ were screened. Know what an audience in the front row said, “Please Vishal! Stop making silly commercial movies and you’re comedy sense is awkward...” This is clearly because of his non-comical sense in Malaikottai that seemed to be quite odd...

We aren’t able to figure out why Vishal is constantly glued to commercial cinemas. He can better quit acting and go for making films as he has good experiences working as assistant director.

Precisely, expectations are so low for the film ‘Thoranai’ and to promote the film much, the producers have taken IPL finales into consideration and postponed release to end of this month... ....

Shriya ups her oomph factor

ShriyaThere’s nowhere that beauty alone can take a person, even in the field mockingly called showbiz. If beauty makes take a look at a person, it’s the person’s attitude that commands the second look in its direction.

And actress Shriya seems to have realized just that. The actress, who certainly revolutionized the way both glamour and dressing was perceived in the South Indian industry, is now set to show some attitude. And this dose of the bold and beautiful of Shriya will be for a Television commercial that has the damsel playing a bold, bright girl. This is for a commercial that will soon grace the screens and is to promote a mobile phone.

This will be more of a sequel to the bold acts that Asin and Genelia have done, playing bold girls in their Miranda and Fanta ads, respectively. And here’s hoping Shriya finds in her the attitude to carry off such a look. The actress is currently awaiting the release of two of her films this summer: Thoranai and Kanthaswamy. ....

One of the big budget films in 2009, ‘Kanthaswamy’ has Vikram and Shriya in the lead. This movie’s hype gets bigger by the day. It has an enviable star cast like Vikram and Shriya. It is being directed by a director of repute, Susi Ganesan and has for the producer, one of the biggest showmen in our country, Thanu.

It was the first Tamil movie to shoot for about a month in Mexico, the first film ever to be shot in Italy’s theatre, the first film in over three decades to have the hero sing all song of the film, in both Tamil and Telugu. The list goes, on and on.

The latest we hear from the crew is that the movie will truly go international trying to capture the international market. In that bid, ‘Kanthaswamy’ is all set to be released in Italian and Spanish as well.
This is largely because a big portion of the film has been shot in these places, and that could be the reason for the film to interest them. The film’s audio is expected to be launched this month, and the movie will be a June end release. Whatever be the languages, we’d like to see the film first. ....

Shriya Saran to lock lips with Kamal Hassan

A doe-eyed beauty, a divine beauty, all these words and more come to mind when Shriya Saran’s name is mentioned. Her innocence radiating from the screen, coupled with sensuousness has sent her fans, especially men, into mindless frenzy. Recently, this delectable lady voiced her opinion on two film personalities who have influenced her in a major way.

The first personality is of course director Shankar, who directed Shriya in the biggest hit of her career, Sivaji - The Boss. Her portrayal of a loving, dedicated and above all, protective wife was very subtle and moving. She attributes this to director Shankar, whom she likens to a authoritarian who works in the best interests of the movie and the actor, ensuring that he extracts only what is necessary for the role.

Her other favourite is of course Kamal Haasan, who has turned his talents to direction with Marmayogi, which is currently in production. Kamal Haasan, who has always been able to elicit the most sensual performances from his co-stars, will be locking lips with Shriya Saran in Marmayogi. Kamal, she says, is a perfectionist and does not stint any efforts until the end-product is exactly the way he wants it -- perfect.

Well, knowing Shriya Saran’s penchant for hard work, she sure won't be grumbling about all those re-takes to get something ‘just so’.

WANTED – Actress to play Shriya's mom

Sarath Kumar is all set to play Shriya's father in K. S. Ravikumar's 'Jaggubhai'. The story delves deep into the intricate relationship between a father and daughter. The film was originally written for superstar Rajinikanth but then was shelved for unknown reasons. However, the director wanted 'Jaggubhai' to see the light of day and cast Sarath Kumar in the lead. Interestingly, the director has rendered big time hits with Sarath in the past.

K. S. Ravikumar is facing a Himalayan problem now. Who will play the role of Sarath Kumar's wife? Because the role also entails playing mom to Shriya, most top actresses don't want anything to do with the project. Actresses such as Sneha, Simran, Padmapriya, Vimala Raman and Tabu have been considered but with negative responses.

With Shriya among the top contenders in the line up of Numero Uno in Tamil films, no other actress wants to give her that much of boost to consolidate it. Truly a headache for the filmmakers.

Meanwhile, there were reports that the title for the movie would be changed. The director has denied this and said he'd go ahead with the same title. ....
